Hi there. I just recently bought the 2.12 download version from Aerosoft, and I am really enjoying how it works. The many different voices are great, and the ATC is a huge improvement over FSX. I used to have ProFlight 98 a long time ago, and that really added a lot to FS98 back in the day.

I've tested PFE on FSX on my main computer and I'm also testing it with FS9 on my laptop (I got it mainly for the laptop, because I use VoxATC with FSX) and I'm noticing that there are times when the pilot and ATC are saying something, but there is no audio. I have closed caption on, so that I can see the messages. I don't believe I am missing any voices, because I do hear the voice... just not all the time.

For example, I'll see the co-pilot make a request to ATC and there will be no sound. ATC responds, and there is sound. Later, there will be no sound when ATC contacts us, however there is sound when the co-pilot responds. Is there something that I need to adjust in the settings?

I do not have the Voice Expansion Pack installed yet, but I am making plans to purchase it soon as well as the Free Enhancement pack.

Sound is a difficult one to detect..problem wise!

Can you elaborate abit more on your problem, when does it happen, what keys are you hitting etc,as for the Voice Packs that may help, also update to the latest if you haven't done so already..
Take some screenshots if possible of your settings in PFE,options 1 page...

What soundcard are you using, onboard chip or external soundcard like audigy?

I'm actually using, 2.14. I was reading the manual at the time, and it says 2.12, but I know I have the latest.

I just recently bought the Voice Expansion Pack from Aerosoft and installed it, along with the Enhancement. I'll give these a try and see what happens. If it happens again, then I'll record an MP3 file so you can hear what it sounds like. I know you won't be able to see it, but it might help.

I have a new problem now, though.

All of the original voices are gone! I'm clicking on use Both new and original in Options 1 and then closing it. But when I open it again, it's back on just the Expansion Pack voices. In the drop down list, I do not see any of the original voices anymore. I would like to have both, because I like all the varied voices.

I chose a call sign that has (orig) next to it, but it didn't change the voice drop down list. It still has all the new voices.

As far as my computer systems:

Desktop computer has an Audacity sound card in it. The laptop is working off of the internal sound chip. I was having the problem of commands/responses not having audio at times. It's almost as if the command was going too quickly and the audio couldn't catch up, so it just didn't play it. I'll try with expansion pack and see what happens, and I'll post a screenshot of the options screen at that time.

In the meantime, why are all the original voices gone? I think they are still installed, because I can still hear some of those voices in ProFlight 2000 when changing voices there (some don't play, but I assume those are the expansion pack ones made for PFE).

I have.... a few times.

In fact, I created a test flight last night and converted it with PF2000 so that I could test out the new voices. For the moment, the commands/requests from Pilot to ATC and back were all there. However, I don't have the original voices.

I emailed the log to you.

Update to issue:

I now have original voices showing up on the drop down menu, and it is keeping my option of selecting "both" original and new. I have noticed, though, that when selecting an original voice from the drop down menu that I no longer hear a "sample" of it. I'll try it in an actual flight and see if it plays or not.

I've done a couple of test flights: one was on my laptop with FS9, and the other was on my desktop with FSX. I have the Voice Expansion and Enhancement pack installed on both machines, and I didn't have any trouble at all with the voices.

My guess is that the latest version of PFE works best with the Voice Expansion pack, so some of the original voices sometimes don't play through. No worries, though. The Voice Expansion is worth the investment.

I flew last night on FSX from Detroit to Toronto, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The many voices I heard and levels of various audio quality was truly immersive. I loved it when I reached Canada and started hearing French accented ATC controllers vectoring us Americans around. That was great.

The only problem I had was taxiing at the departure airport. ATC had me on a Taxi way going head on with another 747 coming my way. I had to steer out in the grass and around it. I know this isn't the fault of PFE, though, because it can't control the AI. Although, it would have been nice if PFE knew it was coming and directed me to take a different route instead.

To the developers:

Have you thought about PFE generating it's own AI Traffic to control? VoxATC does this, and I've seen examples of where it works really well and other times it becomes a nightmare (like generating too much traffic like a swarm of bees). I'm just curious if you looked into this or not. I think PFE is pretty darn amazing for what it can do right now, and I really look forward to more updates to this fabulous program.

Thanks for the ideas... I must admit all I do is use the FSUIPC ZAP option if anyone's in my way ;-)

Not very realistic I know but great to be in control

Dave, please, what is the FSUIPC name of the "ZAP" option? I've been looking for it some time, the list of FSUIPC function is rather huge now.

Thanks,
Sabre.
