Fellow Simmers I hope this message finds you well. After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from active software development. I've been writing code for almost 50 years as a professional programmer and 30 years for the flight sim world in my spare time. It has been an incredible journey filled with challenges, learning experiences, and rewarding achievements. I am grateful for the support and camaraderie I’ve shared with you. While I may be stepping away from full-time development, I am committed to supporting my existing projects on a best-endeavor basis. I want to ensure that you have the resources and assistance you need, even as I transition into this new phase of my life. **What This Means:** - **Limited Availability**: My response times may vary, but I will do my best to assist with any questions or issues as they arise. - **Resources**: I will endeavor to maintain existing documentation and resources to help you navigate any challenges. - **ReActivation**: If you add FreeLicence=1 to your PF3.INI file Config section you will no longer need to activate the software I have withdrawn PF3 from the market and made it available as Freeware. You can request a download link from the download section of our website by entering '999' as your activation code. If this is your first install of PF3, you will need to run the PF3 installer and extract the attached PF3.INI file into the main PF3 folder before running it for the first time. I would also like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your trust and collaboration over the years. Each interaction has enriched my experience immensely. My thanks also to all those (past and present) who have helped along the way (beta testers, contributors, etc) Thank you all for being part of this amazing journey. I look forward to staying connected in this new capacity. If you have any questions or need support, please feel free to reach out. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors! |

Dave, Thanks for bringing Proflight98 and 2000 to flightsim when there was nothing in ATC...what an achievement, then PFE followed by a massive upgrade in PF3. It was also nice meeting you back in 2007 or 8 (Can't exactly remember the date) when i was working in Luton for a week helping to setup a new contract between the airport and Luton Parkway railway stn using those purple bendy buses. It's been enjoyable working on PF3 V2 as a Beta working out any issues that you threw at us... ![]() Take it easy now,i think i can say that from all of us USER's of PF3. |

Not many developers take the trouble to make their product free and available to all when they retire. That's another medal to wear on your chest, Dave, in addition to those for support levels over and above the call of duty. Your retirement is well earned and overdue (even if we would really like all the good things in life to never end) but we have a very well matured product that will certainly see me through to the days when I can't sit here playing at being an airline pilot any more. We shall never forget, because your voice, and that of your dear supportive wife, will still come come booming through on the ATC (and also on Flight Deck Companion, which I run alongside). I hope you do still pop in as and when it suits, but meanwhile, enjoy! John |

Thank you for a great program. I am sure you've been asked many times and you've provided your reasons as to why it cannot be done, but to allow the user to read the debug file when things go wrong would, I think, extend the life of this little gem. tc |

The days of S-Combo seem (and indeed are, in many ways!) very much in the dim distant past: hard to imagine I've been posting here for almost 24 years. PF3 has been going quite some time now itself of course (I almost never fly without it). I had to drop FDC when I moved to X-Plane, but at least the third-party plugin makes much of PF3 work well in that simulator (and the latest/last version of PF3 continues to work really well; no major bugs or oddities). Thanks for all your work here Dave (a labour of love, mostly, I hope) and the great, friendly support. Very glad you'll still be posting here from time to time. Martin ![]() |
